Sundays are for the people. Had a really good experience (and probably the smoothest ride ever since car traffic was banned) in Frankfurt last sunday on the bicycle parade led by DJ Dom Whiting https://youtu.be/KaRBm5-7hBE with over 1000 participants. Let’s bring this to more cities.

AI ideas (AI-generated, non-binding)

• Encourage local organizations to host community bike rides on weekends to promote alternative modes of transportation. Contact local DJ's to help create a fun and inclusive atmosphere. This could be done without any significant material or financial investment.
• A long-term solution could be to promote and support community-led initiatives like the bicycle parade in Frankfurt to encourage sustainable transportation and street activation. Other international examples include "Ciclovía" in Bogotá, Colombia, and "Summer Streets" in New York City, USA.
• Create a weekly car-free day where people can cycle, walk and skateboard while enjoying street performances, food and community activities. Use the empty streets for pop-up parks, bike lanes and art installations. Encourage people to leave their cars at home and embrace a healthier, more sustainable and interactive lifestyle.
• Encourage your local government to prioritize and invest in bike-friendly infrastructure. Forming or joining a bicycle advocacy group can help amplify your voice and advocate for change.
• The mobility officer should work with community groups to organize more car-free events like the bicycle parade. Encouraging people to bike instead of drive can reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality. Look into street closures and permits needed to properly implement such events.
